From Township Child to Schoolgirl – A Success Story We Are Writing Together
During our travels and through close collaboration with our local partners, we have come to know countless children. We have seen their beaming eyes, but we have also witnessed firsthand their harsh living conditions in the townships. For us at HIT, the choice was clear: we do not want to just watch; we want to make a difference.
It Began with a Heartfelt Decision
Our sponsorship journey began with Chloé. She was only two years old when we decided to support her directly. Through our sponsorship, we were able to enable her to attend a daycare—a safe place to learn and grow.
Today, Chloé is a proud schoolchild. This experience was life-changing for her and so deeply enriching for us that we have now successfully established over 60 sponsorships.
What Sets Us Apart: 100% Closeness, 100% Impact
A sponsorship with us is not an anonymous donation. It is a real connection.
Personal Contact: We personally know the daycares, the schools, the children, and their families. We are regularly on the ground.
Direct Help: 100% of your contribution benefits the child directly. There are no bureaucratic detours.
Long-Term Support: We do not leave the children on their own after daycare. We accompany our sponsored children throughout their entire educational journey until they can stand on their own two feet.
Involvement:
As a sponsor, you are part of their development. You will receive regular updates on how your sponsored child is doing and have the opportunity to make personal contact.
Become Part of the Story
A sponsorship is a real opportunity for both sides: for the child, it is a way out of poverty—for you, it is the knowledge that you have sustainably changed a life.

Education as a way out of the vicious cycle—A dream becomes reality.
Around 20 kilometers southeast of Cape Town lies a place that has deeply impressed us for years. Here, Mary and her team have created a home for children between the ages of six and twelve, whose lives have been scarred by drugs, alcohol, and violence. Our shared goal: "Read and Read to Lead"—paving the way for these children out of a lack of prospects through education.
In the beginning, the focus was on basic provisions. We at HIT primarily took care of school materials and the necessary office equipment, arranged sponsors, and organized donations in kind. However, it quickly became clear that the local conditions were reaching their limits.
Mary was teaching the children in a single room of her own house. Being packed "shoulder to shoulder" is not a condition under which one can study with focus. That is why we made a brave decision: together, we built a school!
After tough negotiations with the city and the conclusion of fair lease agreements, we were able to celebrate the official opening of the new school in January 2023. What began as a vision is today a vibrant place of learning:
Space for 80 children: Today, 80 children are already able to attend this after-school program—that is double the capacity compared to the beginning!
Tangible progress: The improved learning conditions are having a direct impact. On average, the children's academic performance has improved by an incredible three grade levels.
What touches us deeply and fills us with pride: Mary and her protégés already affectionately call the building the "HIT School." It is more than just a school—it is a symbol of new perspectives and the chance for a life far away from violence. Here, the foundation is laid for township children to become the shapers of their own future.
